Saturday Feb 18th

12:00 - Workshop: Substance and Superficiality:

Emotional content in fight choreography
The Indie Filmmaker's Introduction to creating realistic fight scenes
With Action Film producer/ Director/Actor William Lee

This presentation is not a course for martial arts experts or fighters. It is aimed specifically at filmmakers wanting to create realistic fight scenes for their indie films. The presentation will feature examples from Asian and American films, advice on directing actors versus martial artists, blocking, pacing, story content as related to fight scenes, how not to create a fight scene and more.

Lee is the CEO/President of Cinema Lexzikon, and his company has several notable films in worldwide release including “Code:Black”, “Demons Rising” and “Dark Target”. He is currently in pre production of Architect of Chaos featuring Joe Estevez, Art Camacho, and Ron Van Clief. Lee's honors include a special commendation from producer Roy Horan, the producer for Jacky Chan's early films, and an appearance in the 1995 kick boxing cult film “Superfights”

4:00 - Workshop: No Budget Filmmaking 101:

How talent, a stubborn never say die attitude, hard working trusting friends with film equipment, free locations, good local actors and a few dollars can be put together to make a great feature film. And how, if you’re not careful, it can very easily turn into a gigantic waste of time and money.

Filmmaker Tom Whitus gives the in's and out's and the up's and down's of

indie filmmaking with low or no budget and how to become successful doing it.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Tom Whitus is a Hall of Fame member of Doss High School and a graduate of the University of Louisville. Outside of his interest in film, Tom is a long time freelance sportswriter for the Louisville Courier-Journal, the largest newspaper in Kentucky and south central Indiana. His film credits include: Sam Steele and the Crystal Chalice, Almost Nothing Good Happens, Sam Steele and the Junior Detective Agency
