In Order for your film to be CONSIDERED for the

festival it MUST be Postmarked By November 1st AND

be received at our office by November 15th!

If you are unsure if it will make it to us by November 15th

you may want to expedite shipping.

ALL films received after November 15th

will be returned unopened. No exceptions!

All fees must be paid in U.S. Dollars

You may pay by Check or Money Order

Payable to The Derby City Film Festival

International submissions MUST PAY with an

International Money Order IN US FUNDS

Short Films (All Categories): $10.00

Short Feature Films (All Categories): $12.00

Feature Films (All Categories): $15.00

Returned Checks will be charged a $15.00 Fee

and you film will not be considered until payment

and fees have been paid and cleared

Categories

U.S. Short
Films that qualify as a U.S. Short are narrative fiction works under 30 min in length with production taking place in the U.S.
Documentary Short
Films that qualify as a Documentary Short are less than 45 min in length, on any subject and produced in any country.
Animation Short
Films that qualify for Animated Short are narrative fiction works less than 30 min in length and can be from any country. All types of animation are included.
International Short
Films that qualify as an International Short are narrative fiction works under 30 min that have been produced outside the U.S.
Experimental Short
Films that qualify as an Experimental Short are works less than 15 min and have been produced in any country. Art films, AV projects, music videos, etc., all fall under Experimental. Please keep in mind we also have an Animation category as well, so be sure to pick the right one for your film.
Student Short
Films that qualify as a Student Short are narrative fiction works and may have been produced from any country with a run time of less than 45 min. The director of the film MUST have been attending an accredited college or university during production. If we can questions about legitimacy of school affiliation additional documentation will be required.
U.S. Short Feature
Films that qualify as a Short Feature are narrative fiction works between 31 and 69 min in length with production taking place in the U.S.
International Short Feature
Films that qualify as an International Short Feature are narrative fiction works between 30 and 70 min in length and have been produced outside of the U.S.

Documentary Feature

Films that qualify as a Documentary Feature are over 45 min in length and on any subject.

U.S. Feature
Films that qualify as a U.S. Feature are narrative fiction works over 70 min in length with production taking place in the U.S.
International Feature
Films that qualify as an International Feature are narrative fiction works over 70 min in length and have been produced outside the U.S.
Animation Feature
Film that qualify as an Animation Feature are narrative fiction works over 45 min in length and have been produced in any country.

In order to keep our fees reasonable we only accept submissions that are

received with the completed form you can download below.

Online submission services charge a sign up fee and then a percentage of the

submission fee, which would drive up the fee we would end up having to charge.

We'd rather keep our submission fee low and ask that you fill out a simple

form to include with your DVD screeners.

Please also Download and Print the Rules & Regulations as well, because

failure to follow them will disqualify your film.

If you have any questions please call or email us BEFORE you submit your film.

You submission fee goes towards the costs of managing and screening submissions

for selection into the festival. Just because you submit your film and pay the fee

DOES NOT mean that your film will be accepted into the festival.
